Iranian farmers harvesting apples in the city of Urmia

The Iranian province of West Azerbaijan is one of the main producers of apple and farmers are currently picking their harvest.

More than 50 thousands hectares of lands in West Azerbaijan are planted with apple trees that makes the province the top apple producer of Iran.

The product is annually exported to countries such as Turkey, Iraq and Russia.

Collecting the harvest usually starts in October and lasts for a month.

It is estimated that Urmia city’s share of the product is 300, 000 tones.
